Artist's profile

Born in Yorkshire, England, as a young girl the artist spent most of her time drawing and painting, but this hobby took a back seat during the 1950s and 1960s as marriage, motherhood and migration to Australia accounted for most of her spare time.

In the early 70s, with her three daughters at school, the urge to once again take up painting re-emerged. It was during this period that she took a few night classes in Tasmania and later in Kambalda WA. During this period she was also an enthusiastic member of the now defunct  KATS (Kambalda Amateur Dramatic Society), painting most of the scenery as well as acting in various productions.

It wasn't until she moved to Albany WA that Jackie began to take her painting seriously and she now enjoys painting scenes of her adopted hometown.

Jackie is currently working on a series of paintings of the Brig Amity, the replica of which overlooks Albany's Princess Royal Harbour. Her future ambitions are to work on a further series depicting Albany's historic buildings.
